L.A.’s Beachfront City
1) Ocean Ave./Santa Monica Pier
You might want to save this Santa Monica fave for the sunset. Stroll down Ocean Ave. along the bluffs to get a great view of the pier and the coastline up to Malibu. Play night volleyball next to the pier and create an experience that cannot be duplicated anywhere else in SoCal. The ferris wheel lights and music from the pier will transform your typical beach experience. The Santa Monica Pier website also posts some pretty cool weekly events.
2) Main Street
Main Street is this awesome little street that is somewhat of a hidden gem to the tourists but definitely a local favorite. Start with a cup of Urth Cafe’s organic coffee. I promise it’s good. If you haven’t noticed yet, LA is all about natural organic products. Mindfulnest is a cute boutique that has unique crafty items that just make you feel good when you walk into the store. They’re part of Buy Local Santa Monica that supports the local businesses. The bar scene has some of the most popular bars in LA such as The Victorian. They’ve transformed a victorian style home into a trendy, elegant 3-story venue. The Basement Tavern at The Victorian features live bands and awesome lounge areas. Two of the best bars for dancing would be Circle Bar and 31Ten Lounge.
